Seneca, Kansas is a small town located on Highway 36 in Northeast Kansas nestled in the heart of the Nemaha River valley. Seneca itself is alive with community spirit, family friendly activities, recreation, shopping, museums, an 18-hole golf course, a movie theater, modern aquatic center and so much more.
Seneca is home to four museums as well as the Widest Hand Dug Well in Kansas. On Saturday, June 11 Seneca will be hosting their 3rd annual Museum Day which will showcase the Temple of Honor Military Museum, Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence, Pony Express Museum, Hand Dug Well, and the Seneca Fire Department Museum which houses the 1922 Stutz Fire Engine! All 5 locations will be open from 3pm-6pm that day free of charge. All of the museums are available for tours on other days but most are by appointment. Museum Day is a perfect opportunity to take in all of Seneca’s history!
In addition to the open museums on June 11 Seneca will also feature live music by the band Custom/20 at 6:30pm in their historic downtown. This will be a part of their Second Saturday Live Music event that is taking place April through October, 2022.
